Preparing for the Via Francigena

I'm getting ready for the Via Francigena.  I'm leaving for Italy in a few weeks and start the hike in early May. The time seems to go slowly when planning the trek and then all of a sudden it's almost time.  I've been walking lots, mostly up to 17 and 18 kms. I planned to wear my north face shoes but they aren't working out. I got a big blister and my feet just aren't happy so I went searching again and found some light Keens  that are incredibly comfortable.  I'm going to take them for a good walk tomorrow.  Hope for decent weather.  I  picked up some odds and ends for the trip today. ..Going to have to stop spending madly though. I still have to buy my euros. I've been looking at the maps and directions for the  trail.  It's a bit confusing so I hope it makes more sense when I get there.  Julie and I are going on a day trip from Firenze and we'll be walking about 5 kms of the  Via Francigena on a wine tasting trip. It will be good to see the trail markers and get used to it before I head out for real. I have to get my camera ready and print out hotels and directions and flights.  More packing and sorting and making sure that I have a ride to the airport.  Getting ready! Update :I am so happy that I bought the Keen Terradora's.  I walked 14 - 15 kms in the rain in the new shoes today and they're great. Yeah! Now I just have to figure out the maps and guide book.
